Walnut Prawns

Here's another dish I haven't actually ever prepared. It's just here so that I'll have the recipe handy later on.

walnuts

  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 lb. walnuts
  • 1/4 c. honey
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  2. Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan, bring to a boil.
  3. Add walnuts, return to boil.
  4. Lower heat, let simmer for 10 min.
  5. Drain, spread walnuts on a cookie sheet, bake 45 minutes.
  6. Combine walnuts and honey in a small bowl, stir.
  7. Spread walnuts on another cookie sheet, bake another 45 minutes.

prawns

  • 1/2 lb. prawns
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 c. cracker meal
  1. Shell and devein shrimp, and then pat dry.
  2. Coat shrimp with egg whites, then coat with cracker meal.
  3. Deep fry shrimp for 2 minutes.

putting it all together

  • 2 T. mayo (yup.)
  • 1-2 t. vinegar
  • 1 T. condensed milk
  • 1 T. sugar
  1. Combine sauce ingredients in a small, hot wok.
  2. Add fried shrimp, and toss until coated.
  3. Add glazed walnuts, and toss until coated.
Serve with rice.
